HOW IT STARTED
About Us
❓ Q: What is Describit, and how does it help rug businesses today?
✅ A:
Describit is an AI-powered writing assistant built especially for rug dealers, vintage carpet sellers, showrooms, and interior design shops.
It helps you generate professional, SEO-optimized product descriptions in seconds—whether you’re listing antique Persian rugs, Scandinavian kilims, or modern designer carpets.
A great rug listing does more than describe dimensions—it tells a story, improves search rankings, keeps buyers engaged, and builds trust that drives sales.
❓ Q: Why focus on product descriptions for rugs and decor?
✅ A:
Because rugs aren’t just products—they’re artworks woven with craftsmanship, culture, and value.
Many rug sellers have incredible inventory but struggle to describe them in ways that connect with online buyers.
Describit makes it easy to capture the origin, weave, texture, and story of each piece—while ensuring content is also optimized for Google and top marketplaces like 1stdibs, Etsy, and Shopify.
Q: Tell us about your journey. How did you end up blending technology and traditional business?
A: It’s been a lifelong passion.
In the ’70s, I was already fascinated by the future — playing video games on early TV consoles that felt like science fiction.
In 1984, I got my first personal computer, a Commodore VIC-20. I started playing games, but quickly moved into programming BASIC.
In 1985, I upgraded to a second-hand Commodore 64 and started building more serious programs.
By 1987, I even won a national prize for creating educational software about accounting and banking.
Q: You’ve been early to a lot of technological revolutions. How did the Internet fit into your story?
A: In the early ’90s, I was publishing newsletters with the first DTP software in Italy.
I was curious about the Internet, even though back then it was expensive, slow, and complicated.
Email, however, was instantly useful — it replaced the fax, it allowed reusable communication, and it opened a direct line to magazine editors and important contacts.
In 1996, I registered my first domain. We were importing Persian carpets, and I took the radical step of sharing photos and prices online.
Many traditional colleagues criticized it. They thought it would hurt the business.
Today, those same people are looking to the web as a primary sales channel.
Q: How did Describit come into being?
A: The inspiration came in late 2022 when I started experimenting with ChatGPT.
For years, the hardest part of maintaining a product website was writing the descriptions. It took too much time, and when a product sold, it felt like the effort had been wasted.
But with AI, suddenly part of that process could be automated.
Even better — pages with rich, well-written descriptions started ranking better on Google.
Visitors stayed longer. More leads were generated. And of course, more leads meant more sales.
Q: What’s your vision for Describit moving forward?
A: Describit is here to empower small businesses — not replace them.
We want to help every seller of art, decor, antiques, and craftsmanship to tell better stories online, without needing to hire a professional writing team.
Technology should break barriers, not create them.
Your passion deserves to be seen, heard, and understood — by search engines and by people.
At Describit, we help you Write Less, Tell More, and Sell More.
But your voice, your style, and your story are still the heart of it all.
